We all love beautiful spaces, but do they function the way we need them to for daily living? The good news is: It’s possible to achieve beautiful and functional spaces that your entire family will love.
1. Evaluate your Space. Take a walk through your space and note what the primary spaces will be used for. If a new build this could be on paper during the planning stages. What is and is not working well for you? What would you change if you could to make it more functional?
2. Consider the Room’s Layout. If you have an open floor plan, consider furniture that is movable such as sectionals, cube seating, and ottomans that have the potential to entertain a crowd or adjust based on your needs. Choose Furniture that also doubles as storage and is made to withstand living. This could be a beautiful built-in with storage, baskets that house toys or furniture made with performance fabric.
3. Needing Storage Solutions? Is there enough storage in the space for the way you live? Are you underutilizing some areas that could double as storage? For example a beautiful armoire or chest to house blankets or games.
4. Make a Space Multi-Functional. Do you have a space that could serve more than one purpose such as a spare bedroom or large living room? Incorporating a small home office or play space for littles in these spaces is a great way to not only utilize unused space but to also bring the family together by creating more unified spaces.
5. Elevate the Space: make the space beautiful once it functions as you need it to add textures, fabrics, art, plants, and lighting to elevate the space.
Regardless of how much money you spend on making a space beautiful and functional, the more comfortable and usable, you make the space, the more likely everyone will want to spend time there.
Here’s to Beautiful + Functional Living!
